At some point in life, there will be a moment when it feels like everything stumbled down—for designers, artists, writers experiencing creative blocks stuck in need of inspiration. No wonder, you tend to focus beating yourself hard thinking that inspirations could be realized in the form of lightning bulbs, right here and right then only in your usual space even though inspiration could come in many ways. But for once in a while, sitting on a chair could be that one place to still look for inspirations even after you are and in need of inspiration. That’s what sitting on a chair could do to you—inspiring you—because you never knew when to look for inspiration at the very least unexpected time and place. Try sitting on the chair and let the inspiration do the work.

Read a poem out loud

When you resonate feelings with the particular things that hit you home like reading Rupi Kaur collection poem, accepting things like missing home, break ups, or falling in love. The moment you give access to your feelings, it would influence the way you perceive something.

Color a book

Coloring books are not just for kids. A lot of researchers say it helps with the therapy to reduce anxiety. Now, when sitting on the chair, focusing on those mandalas mind is focusing on that moment only, with how you are choosing on what color would fit this and that shape. The continuous scratching of the colored pencils would make us feel at ease, and when you finish it, it gives you satisfying feelings even though you are far from a professional artist.

Write about life goals

What could be better ways of planning about your life without hurry by sitting on the chair? Make a timeline out of it, a mind map, a list, anything that you want to achieve in the next 5 or 10 years or so because you’ve designed your life in a way that it would be wasteful not to do it as it is.

Snap a photo

Golden hour looks good on everyone, and that, of course, includes you. The chair could be a montage of every pose you could pull; be it a dozen of selfies from phone, taking a Polaroid camera, or take a picture with analog camera without knowing how it would look before you wash the film rolls afterward. But, if you are not a fan of being the subject of the photo, you can also take landscapes pictures—the views from your windows, for example—or passing people. Let you cherish the moment.

Watch YouTube ads

Sure, advertisements on free services could be irritating. But, when you don’t skip the advertisements on YouTube, you could get out a few things out for yourself, such as the understanding that one’s brand concept is trademarked this way, the semiotics needed to figure out what the advertisement is trying to deliver its messages like Gojek, Bukalapak, and Tokopedia did.

See? It turns out that you can do a lot of things by only sitting on a chair. Sometimes, there is no need for you to go anywhere because the inspirations coming are actually right in front of us. You can be anyone and anything in it, sitting on the chair.
